Never Too Old to Workout or Train

Here at MTTI-WellSpring, we have a number of students who inquire about our Fitness Training and Wellness Program. Some of these students are older and are concerned about what career options will available for them as Baby Boomers (especially in an industry and society that is very image and youth driven). We always tell these students that from our experience and conversations with club owners, older personal trainers actually do really well because many older clients don't feel comfortable training with a 20-year-old who may not understand them as well.

And now we have research proof to back that statement up even further. According to a recent survey by AARP, more than 57 percent of seniors and elderly desire professional training instruction to assure they perform exercises correctly and avoid injuries, which become harder to recover from as one gets older. In addition, there are whole fitness facility franchises that are designed to train the older adult, and employ older trainers.

Is there opportunity for older trainers? I'd say so! Click here to read the full story.

I agree that older trainers would have an advantage and may be more readily accepted.
I like to stay in shape. Look at Abdominal Toning.

My friend just lost her job after working for a company for 26 years. She is having a hard time finding work and has decided that she needs to broaden her education and get a gym membership (even with no job to pay for it) and get in better shape. She is sure that is why she cannot find work. She is even considering plastic surgery. What is our society coming to when experience doesn't count for much and appearance counts more?

what do you think about all the new supplements coming out on the market that are targeted at baby boomers? Are they useful or is it just someone looking to make a quick buck?

Cheers,
Don

It totally makes sense to me. I know if I were seeking a trainer, I would want someone who I felt I related to. Someone in my age range would feel a lot more comfortable.

Makes sense that older gym members would prefer a person their age to train them. But are there enough of these older gym members?

Age is not a obstruction to do workout or exercising. You can do your exercising at home by using used stationary bikes any time you have good mood.

In my point of view, age doesn't matter as long he can do the workout that is fine. Look at this for Muscle mass building tips.

Should I say: In exercise, age doesn't matter. Exercise helps a lot. It is good in our blood circulation. It helps a lot especially old ones.
