Massage Reduces Stress in Breast Cancer Patients

According to new research, massage is effective in reducing stress in breast cancer patients. The studied looked at 34 women who were diagnosed with primary breast cancer and who received either 30 minutes of massage twice a week for five weeks (17 patients) or standard care with no massage therapy (17 patients). All patients rated their stress and mood levels, and blood samples were taken to measure levels of the stress hormone cortisol.
