Is Water the Way to Weight-Loss?

For years, fitness and health professionals have been telling people to drink more water. Not only is hydration key for the body functioning optimally, but also water helps "fill you up." But has there been any science behind the drink-more-water-lose-weight claim? Not until now.

New research shows that drinking just two eight-ounce glasses of water before meals can help people eat between 75-90 fewer calories at each meal. Over the course of 12 weeks, dieters who drank water before three meals a day lost five more pounds than those who did not increase their water intake. Great article! water is probably one of the best things you can put into your body. I also read another study that suggested, if you drink 2 litres of very cold water a day, this can result in up to 80 calories a day being burned. Water is one of the best ways to lose weight!

Always make it a habit to drink water on a daily basis. I keep a bottle of water with me at all times and drink it throughout the day. I also teach myself to drink water instead of other beverages that don't replenish the nutrients

Firstly Weight loss is the process of burning more calories than taking in. For this, an adequate supply of water is a must in order to function efficiently; dehydration (lack of water in your body) can slow down this fat-burning process.

Secondly, Burning calories(energy) releases harmful toxins, similar like the exhaust coming out of your car, and water plays an important role in flushing them out of your body.

Last but not the least, Weight loss diet includes a good amount of fiber. But while fiber is normally helpful to our digestive system, at the same time it can cause constipation and gas problems without adequate fluids. So water is necessary for us.

Eat clean and pig out once a week. Then you have something to look forward to each week a whole day of pigging out. It works awesome. You are more disiplined during the week as well because you know you have the cheat day coming.

While it has been proven that drinking water can help reduce ones appetite, over 90% of dieters don't achieve lasting weight loss because they cannot resist the temptation to over eat or binge once they go off the diet. When one understands temptation, and learns how to limit the power temptation has over them, they give themselves a chance at lasting weight loss.

I agree that we Need Water. It can help us eat fewer calories.

BUT...Water Dilutes the Digestive Enzymes which isn't good.

So, When you drink Water, Time it to be either 1/2hr before or after meals. Then you Will be able to Use the Digestive Fluids to Digest your Food.

Water is indeed is one of the natural way to lose weight. though the effect is not fast compared to the modern technique today such as surgery and pills, but you will not worry about the implication because water has no side effects.

I would say water is a safe and slow way to lose weight. There are other safe ways to lose weight, namely having a balanced meal daily, having meals at the same interval everyday, and having a good exercise routine weekly. Most importantly, avoid fast food, foods that have saturated fats.

Water is important, but it's not a good idea to get too focused on one part of your daily regimen or nutrition plan. Everything in moderation and balance is more important than one glaring aspect of the plan taking precedence over the others.
