The research, which was published in the Journal Evolution and Human Behaviour credits substances called carotenoids for the glow. Carotenoids, responsible for the red coloring in carrots and tomatoes, are antioxidants that help soak up damaging compounds produced by the stresses and strains of everyday living. Carotenoids are also important for the immune and reproductive systems.
Fruits and vegetable intake is also closely linked to improved body composition and lower rates of all chronic diseases. So this is just another perk to eating a healthy diet!
