Indian Head Massage for Chair & Table - Saturday, June 11, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM
Indian Head Massage is based on an ancient Indian healing system called Ayurveda. This calming, yet revitalizing massage technique has been practiced for over 1000 years, and focuses on the upper back, neck, shoulders, face and scalp. Indian Head massage stimulates pressure points and can help eyestrain, headaches, promote hair growth, improve concentration by stimulating blood flow to the scalp, stimulate lymphatic drainage, relieve shoulder tension, increase neck mobility, and calm the mind/ease emotional stress. This massage is given while the client is fully clothed sitting in a chair, or incorporated into a table massage. Students will learn routines for the chair and adaptations for table work. Indian Head Massage is great to add to a basic chair massage, and well-suited for geriatric clients confined to a wheelchair.
SUPPLIES: Please bring one set of linens for table work, one hand towel, and one pillowcase. Oil is optional. (Sweet almond and coconut oil are good for dry hair/scalp. Sesame oil is beneficial for dry, flaky scalp.) Lolita will provide Ayurvedic oil for use during the class

Greenstone Fusion Massage - Sunday, June 1, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
The greenstone is a serpentine "S"-curved stone from Guatemala with a pointed end for deeper work, and a broad base for smoothing out muscles and removing toxins. It is perfectly shaped for deep massage. The stone can reach "hard to get" places such as the curved surface of the neck (SCM & scalenes), the deltoids, and back muscles without twisting the therapist's hands. The stone can be heated in hot water, although most prefer the cool texture of the stone as it effortlessly glides over muscles. Oil or massage cream is required when massaging with the greenstone. Students are taught how not to "grab or hold" the stone. Instead, physics and full hand pressure are utilized so that hands, arms and shoulders have minimal impact. Clients receive a deeper massage with less stress on the therapists hands.
SUPPLIES: Please bring one set of linens, face cradle covers, and massage oil or lotion. Stones will be available in class for students' use.
