Tain Di Bamboo Massage Video

Don't you wish we're all lucky enough to travel around the globe and learn new styles of massage therapy? Us too. However, we do get lucky enough to have those who are, come to WellSpring to teach us these practices! Check out this video on Tain Di Bamboo Massage as a preview of what we have coming up in August.

Saturday & Sunday - August 20-21, 2011 9:00 AM - 6:30 PM

Tain Di ("Heaven/Earth") Bamboo Massage
is a new and innovative style of massage therapy and bodywork that incorporates ancient Chinese principles and philosophy based on the five elements. Students will learn the use of bamboo as an instrument to do a complete bodywork session, including the use of different sizes and cuts of bamboo sticks (Cho sticks) as an extension of your hands, forearms and elbows. This technique will help you to work deeper and more effectively, saving hands and wrists. In addition to learning how to use bamboo sticks to do treatment, the basics of Chinese cupping and Gua Sha will be covered. Cupping is a method of applying acupressure by creating a vacuum next to the client's skin. In Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) it involves placing glass, plastic, or bamboo cups on the skin with a vacuum-- in this class we will work with plastic cups. Cupping has been found to penetrate the tissue four inches into the body, causing tissues to release toxins, activating the lymphatic system, clearing stretch marks, and improving varicose veins. Cupping is the best deep tissue massage available. Gua Sha, Gua meaning "to scrape or extract", and Sha, meaning "sand or toxins", is a traditional ancient Chinese healing technique that dates back over two thousand years. This ancient method is used to promote Chi or bioelectric vital life energy, blood circulation and the removal of toxic heat, stagnant blood and lymph fluid from the body.
